Day Hemmed in Prayer Gatefold Card

I recently led a free card-making class for a local Moms of Preschoolers group and had a fun time creating all the elements for 15 people to make 5 cards. This "hemmed in prayer" gatefold card was one of them. The stamp was a gift from Holley Barnhart of Holley's Blog (holleybarnhartsblog.blogspot.com). She does blog candy every February, and I won several great stamps, dies, and stencils. Thanks, Holley!

To make the card, I used a Pinkfresh Studio coverplate die called "Stitches." I die cut it out of a light yellow card stock that matched the design paper I used for the card base. I was able to cut it along the center to add to the 2 sides of my gatefold card. Then I stamped the "A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to unravel" sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs and die cut it using a Gina Marie stitched rectangle die. I added a button with some twine tied to it and a die cut needle and thread (sorry I don't know what company made those--they have been in my stash for years!). For the inside of the card, I did some more stamping using a retired Close to My Heart stamp set (the needle and cross stitch heart) and what I think is a Just Rite stamp (Jeremiah 33:3). That's also been in my stash for quite some time, so I'm not sure. I've bought a lot of Christian stamps over the years!

Habakkuk 2:14 Napkin Fold Card

This week's card for the shut ins I send happy mail to features a design I saw on Connie Stewart's Simply Stamping blog here: How To Make A Napkin Fold Card AND Make It Stand (simplysimplestamping.com). I've made napkin fold cards before, but what I liked about Connie's version is that it's attached to a card base with a stand in the back so it can be displayed.

I recently purchased the SU! whale punch to be able to punch out the whale stamp that's part of the Whale Done stamp set I won as a prize from Debbie Mageed over at the Creative Creases challenge awhile back, so when I came across a verse in my study of Habukkuk in BSF this week that had a sea theme, I decided to create a sea-themed card featuring the verse and using the stamps and punch from that SU! set. I had some cute double-sided card stock with ocean animals and seashells on one side and darling little crabs on the other that seemed perfect for this card set. I created a cut file from the measurements for the card base and stand from Connie's post using my Silhouette Studio design software and then used a napkin fold card cut file from Sabine Harris for the napkin fold part of the card. Sabine's original napkin fold card file was quite a bit larger than what I needed to fit on the card base from Connie's post, so I resized it to just under 6 inches and could then fit 4 of them on one sheet of 12x12 card stock using my Silhouette Cameo 4 to cut them out. If you'd like to use Sabine's napkin fold card file in a card of your own, she's generously shared it in the files section of the FB group Silhouette Card Making and Paper Crafts.

For the inner card, I stamped some coral and seaweed and then did some ink blending with my blending brushes to create an ocean background. Next time I'll blend the background first and then stamp, but I didn't think of it until after I'd stamped them all and realized the background needed something more. Finally, I stamped a whale and punched him out and adhered him with foam tape to the little ocean scene on the top flap. The flap opens up to reveal the verse from Habakkuk 2:14: "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea." What a beautiful promise! I added a tiny school of fish and a shell using SU! stamps to decorate around the verse.

Here's a look at the set of cards I made:

Stepped Accordion Wedding Card

The oldest daughter of one of my best friends got married last week, and I wanted to create a special card for her. I decided to do a set of cards so I would have some lovely wedding cards on hand for the upcoming wedding season. I purchased this step accordion card file from the Silhouette Design Store and chose some lovely double-sided floral card stock to create the card base. Then I used a couple sentiment designs from the Silhouette Design Store and did a print and cut of them. I only took pictures of 3 of the cards, but I ended up making 6 of them, and they came together quickly once I had all the pieces cut using on my Cameo 4.

Grapeful For You Charcuterie Board Card

My oldest daughter is a manager at a cheese shop, so when I saw these adorable charcuterie board-themed stamps and dies from HoneyBee Stamps, I had to order them! She came over earlier this week, and I stamped and die cut a bunch of the pieces and sentiments using my MISTI platform and a sticky mat so I could stamp the die cuts multiple times (I stamped them using the MISTI and then die cut the stamped images and used the frames that were left to place into the MISTI so I could just put multiple batches of die cuts into the frames they fit in and stamp them over and over).

I wanted to use several of the sentiments from the coordinating stamp and die set, so I decided to make an accordion card out of the charcuterie board die. I love this die because it adds a woodgrain texture to the board shapes it die cuts. I made 2 hinged cards out of white card stock (just placing the folded cardstock on the die but avoiding the far edge so that 2 boards are cut and stay connected each time). Then I glued them together to create an accordion fold card and adhered the woodgrain boards to the white card stock.

I colored the stamped images using my new Ohuhu Honolulu series alcohol markers. I have some Copic and Chameleon markers I've collected over the years, but several of them are running out of ink, and I don't have many colors. The Ohuhu 104-piece marker set was a bit of a splurge, but I love having so many color choices now! And they color so well!

This card was made for a special friend who is also my walking buddy most mornings. She recently came over to examine my knee when I fell on the ice and twisted it. She is a PT, so it was right up her alley to come tape up my sprained ligament and let me know how long it will take to heal.

Here's the front of the card when all the panels are folded together:

Shadow Box Easter Cards

These Easter cards were cut on my Silhouette Cameo using a Lori Whitlock Silhouette Studio file I purchased in the Silhouette Design Store. I chose some pretty spring colors and cut out the layers and then assembled the shadow cards. These have tabs on the side for each of the layers rather than adhesive, and I really preferred that. I only needed to use my glue tape to close the "box" around the layers once they were all in place. I also adhered the rock in front of the tomb using foam tape and then used liquid glue for the flower in the front. I stamped the verse on the back using an old stamp I believe came from Just Rite Stamps (not entirely sure since I no longer have the packaging). The entire verse from the NIV translation reads: I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die. --John 11:25. What a beautiful promise from our Risen Savior! I pray that each of you reading this will have a blessed Easter rejoicing in Jesus' victory over sin and death. He is risen!

Circle Z-Fold Easter Cards

For my Easter cards this year, I chose a design from the Silhouette Design Store called "Circle Z-Fold Cards." They are simple to cut out and assemble, so I was able to make 140 of them for my mom's Easter cards and another 30 for my own. I created the sentiments on the front and the inside using my Silhouette Design Studio software and did a print and cut of them using the offset feature. Then I used a lovely cross from Creativefabrica.com to add to the front after sizing it up for print and cut. I also purchased the word art of Isaiah 53:5 from the Silhouette Design Store for the back of the card. I just finished a brief look at Isaiah in my Bible Study Fellowship study this year, and this verse is one of my favorites (there are so many wonderful passages in Isaiah!). The verse is: "By His wounds, we are healed." Jesus suffered unimaginable agony for my sake, and His sacrifice heals the rift between our holy God and sinners like me. How grateful I am for His infinite love!

I didn't use any foam tape or add any gems to these cards because I wanted to keep them flat for mailing using a regular stamp. I think I'll use this card design in the future and dress it up with more embellishments when I don't plan to send out so many of them. This design could be used for any occasion.
