Today a new challenge starts on the Creative Creases Challenge blog, and I decided to try my hand at a bow card for this month's challenge. I've been meaning to make this card design for quite some time, and I'm so glad I gave it a try! We'd love to see your fun-fold creations in the gallery here: Creative Creases Challenge
I followed a tutorial here: Beccy's Place: Tutorial - Bow Cards and used the 4 smallest oval dies in the Gina Marie Designs Stitched Ovals Die Set to create the loops of my bow. Then I used the 2 smallest banner tag dies from Altenew's Terrific Tags Die Set for the tails of the bow.
I have a mountain of pattern paper that I would need several lifetimes to use up (can anyone relate?!), so I decided to use some of it for this card. I chose a paper pad by Stamperia called House of Roses. It's such a beautiful shabby chic pad! I chose which papers I wanted to use from the paper pad for the layers and set about doing my die cutting and assembling. The bow is rather large, so my card is oversized. It's also quite bulky, so this card will be hand delivered to the friend I'm giving it to.
After assembling the bow and tails, I created a large card base (6 by 7 3/4) and then trimmed another piece of pattern paper to 4 1/2 by 5 1/4 and adhered that to the center of the card base. I added the bow using Altenew's Instant Dimension Foam Tape. Then I stamped "happy birthday" from Altenew's Flourishing Bouquet stamp set to another pattern paper scrap that was 1 inch by 2 3/4 inches. I added that to the top right of the card to finish the front.
If you're interested in doing some crafty shopping at Altenew, I'd be so grateful if you used my affiliate link here: Carrie's Altenew Link. I receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. Wow, wow, wow! That bow is stunning, Carrie! I love the paper you used. I had no idea that you can make bows with ovals. I will try to remember that (an old timer's brain may make that difficult)! Have a great weekend, my friend!!
