DT Post For The Outlawz Twisted Thursday: Triple Play

This week at the Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge our twist is Triple Play (use 3 colors). Of course it's always Anything Goes if you don't want to follow the twist, so why not join us?

I started my card by importing the digi stamp to my Silhouette Design Studio software and sizing it up and printing it out. I chose some lovely Graphic 45 paper called "Place in Time" and used the 3 colors blue, black and burgundy in that paper to color my image. I used Copic and MEXPY markers for everything but the skater's hair. I used a black color pencil for that so that I wouldn't obscure all the individual strands of hair seen in the digi.

This card took me several attempts to design. It's a good thing I had a lot of that Graphic 45 paper! I had a few ideas that didn't turn out the way I hoped, so I just kept trying different things until I arrived at this design. 



This card is 6X8 inches. I attached the front of the card to the back by adhering the top of the front to the top of the back piece with glue tape and using a score line for ease in opening the card. I used a Couture Craft and Create die to make the snowflake border on both sides of the card front. This was a problem spot for me. I had originally cut out some snowflake border strips using the outline die that goes with this border, but when I was trying to arrange them on the card, they didn't show up very well. There was just too much busyness when I had the card designed with the graphics on the front (great vintage ads and a postcard and some New Year sentiments and snowflakes). So I redesigned it with the graphics on the inside and the snowflake border cut from the card front itself instead of adhered on top of it. 

I used the W Plus 9 Sunshine Layers die set to cut the image and mat. I added some vintage metal photo corners and some pearls where the snowflake circles in the digi were drawn. Then I die cut some snowflakes with Spellbinders 2013 Snowflake Pendant dies and the smallest die in Spellbinders Floral Burst die set. I cut out the "Let it snow" tag from the same Graphic 45 cardstock I used for the card base and adhered it to a black tag to bring in a little more of the black that was more noticeable on the graphic side of the cardstock.
