Thanks "Yeti 'gain" Card

Our best friends recently gave us an early Christmas gift. They gave it to us early because we needed it now that the weather has turned cold. It's a beautiful log rack that holds plenty of wood so we don't have to be running to the woodpile so often. I wanted to make a special card for them since they have been such good friends of ours over the years. God has really blessed us with the gift of Christian friendship.
This stamp set is called "Yeti" and includes all the images you see here: footprints, trees, mountains, and 3 other sentiments besides the one I chose to use with this card. So, this card took me a bit of reworking. I had trouble with the sizing of the mountains the first time around. I had sized them up too small in relation to the trees, sun and clouds, so it was back to the Silhouette Design Studio software to have another go at it!

I tried a few different configurations of mountains and trees and did some paper piecing in my Silhouette program. In the end I liked how the paper pieced trees turned out but decided to color my Yeti by hand with my Copics and MEXPY markers.
Then came the placement of all the pieces with the sketch as my guide. The card had to be bigger than usual to fit everything the way I wanted it all. In the end, I used Kraft paper to make a 7x9 inch card using the hinge method of joining two pieces of cardstock to make the card base.
I fussy cut the group of trees and a few extra trees for the forest grouping. I adhered them to a cork background that I tore along the sides to give it a rustic look. I fussy cut the tops of the mountains and added a snowy hill in front of them popped up with foam squares. I used my Marvy Snow Pen for the tops of the mountains and added Recollections Detail Embossing Powder in Snow while the marker was wet. I heat embossed the tops. This was just an experiment, but I think it turned out like snow. I'm a lot less happy with the snow on the mountainsides that I made with a Zig glue pen and embossing powder. I did a little of that on the sky of my original orange card, and I had to cut out all my elements because the sky looked so bad! So now I have a nice orange mat behind my elements!


I was using green, orange and yellow for the Taylored Expressions "Share Joy" Challenge, so I chose some yellow patterned paper for my sentiment and cut it out with W Plus 9 Sunshine Layers die. I used that set for the sun and clouds, also. The mat for my Yeti is a Spellbinders Marvelous Squares die. For the sentiment, I used Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles and distressed it with some orange ink.


I added an epoxy "thanks" sticker to the center of my sun and die cut 2 trees and the word "grateful" with Taylored Expressions dies. I won a $15 gift certificate to their store and had fun shopping!
