Joyeux Noel Card

This card was a labor of love for me. I really enjoy creating cards with lots of layers and many different details. I'd been wanting to do a vintage Christmas card, and this one was so much fun!
I wanted to have a large amount of space for all my snowflakes, Santa, reindeer, snow globe, etc., so I chose to do a top-hinge card made with the largest die in the Spellbinders Grand Labels 1 die set. Here's a look at the two pieces I die cut to make my card base.

 

I imported my digi (from The Paper Shelter) to my Silhouette Design Studio software and arranged the pre-colored image from "My Polar Friend" onto the digi paper that came with "Oh Holy Night" (also from The Paper Shelter). Then I sized everything the way I wanted and printed it out. I then die cut the digi with a Spellbinders Labels 1 die. Then I went about die cutting and fussy cutting lots of elements to go on this card. Here's a look at the card front with just some background papers. The music paper is actually die cut from an old hymnal, and the song is "Joy to the World," which is one of my favorites! I used Spellbinders Labels Labels 8 to die cut it and then distressed the edges. The other die cuts I used for the background are Spellbinders Decorative Labels 1, Spellbinders Delicate Doilies, Spellbinders Decorative Labels 22 and Spellbinders Victorian Medallion 2.

 

Now here's a look at the finished card.

 

 

The "Joyeux Noel" die is from Memory Box, the large snowflakes are Spellbinders 2013 Snowflake Pendant dies, the blue snowflake border is a Couture by Craft and Create die, the snow globe is a Sizzix die, and Santa with his pack slung over his back is a Die-Versions die that I die cut and distressed the edges with an ink dauber. The frame around the digi is a Spellbinders Opulent Ovals die made into a frame by die cutting the smaller size die inside the larger die. The small snowflakes with pearls in the middle are from a Carta Bella Designer Dies set. Of course I had to have a wooden reindeer tied with twine and a jingle bell along with some presents and a Christmas tree fussy cut from designer paper! The "Merry Christmas" sentiments also came from designer papers. I made the banner wavy by bending it when I adhered it, but it doesn't really show up in the picture. Then I added some pearls on several snowflakes and the top of the Christmas tree to go with the pretty ivory lace I used. I also added a glittered cork tree tied with twine. It was a decoration on a Christmas gift I recently received, and it was much too pretty not to re-purpose it!
