Heartsick Birdbrain

For last week's challenge over at I {heart} sketches with a tWist, I used this same image with a "Get well soon" theme. When I printed it out, I printed a few copies in various sizes as I usually do so I can switch things around or have another copy to color if I don't like how the first one turned out. This week I decided to use one of my "extra" copies but turn it into a Valentine theme. I went with the idea of being "heartsick," but "lovesick" would have worked, too. Who knew this Birdbrain would land on a Valentine card?! It's fun to mix it up a little!

My card base is a 5x7 inch white card blank I embossed with Valentine conversation hearts. Then, following the sketch, I cut a piece of Valentine paper into a rectangle for the left side of the card. Instead of a circle, I put my Birdbrain image (which I had print and cut on my Silhouette and then colored with Copic and MEXPY markers) on a stitched heart die cut I had embossed with the same Cuttlebug folder to keep up the Valentine theme. The stitched heart die set is by Gina Marie Designs. I'm so happy for Gina and how her line of stamps and dies has really taken off. I can remember just a few years ago when she first started designing embossing folders and selling them in her shop. Things have really grown since then, although she still has the Scrapbook Outlet shop, and I still spend way too much money there!

I die cut a couple small hearts from the same Gina Marie stitched heart set, and I distressed my sentiment with some pink ink. Then I adhered my banner and the Martha Stewart Valentine candy border over the rectangle on the left and popped up my stitched heart and Birdbrain image above them. I used some foam tape to adhere the additional hearts on the top right and the sentiment banner on the bottom. I think this may be the first time I've ever completed the sketch challenge on the first day it was posted! Some weeks inspiration hits sooner than others!
