Snowman Thank You card

 

This month over at From the Heart Stamps, Faith Skrdla created this sweet snowperson for the progressive February challenge. Since this week's I {heart} Sketches with a tWist challenge included the twist of making a shaped card, I decided to combine the 2 challenges by making a snowperson-shaped card using the digi's silhouette for my card base. My Silhouette Studio Design software makes it easy to make shaped cards by doing either a trace cut file or an offset cut file and then using the weld feature to attach a mirror image file to its original. In this case, since I wanted my card to lift up at the snowman's hat, I simply did a mirror image above the snowman silhouette file and then moved it down slightly to overlap the original before welding the 2 shapes together.
I also did a print and cut of the digi and colored it with my Copic and MEXPY markers. I added liquid appliqué for the snowman's trim and pompon on his hat. Then I simply stamped a "thanks a latte" sentiment with an acrylic stamp from my stash. This card's going to my parents for treating my whole family (there are 6 of us!) to a movie and lunch last weekend to celebrate the birthday of one of my sons.
