My friend Debbie Mageed at https://secretstamper.com/ recently recommended a few card makers she follows for fun fold card designs, and this card design comes from one of them: Jackie Bolhuis of KlompenStampers. Jackie features 4 fun fold card templates a month that she showcases in one YouTube video each month, and it’s fun to watch her guide her husband through all the measurements to help him make the 4 fun fold card templates (she has him create the templates and then she also shows the cards she made and decorated using the templates). She’s been doing the template videos for a year now, so I want to go back to see the previous videos, but the one from this month had some great ideas, including this easy fun fold card design.
I needed a card to encourage some missionary friends who just got the news that the husband has stage 4 lymphoma. They are going to fly back to the US for treatments, and they have young children who have lived overseas their entire lives, so this is going to be a challenging time for the whole family. Isaiah 43:2 is such a comforting verse because it reminds us to expect suffering (“when you go through deep waters” rather than “if you go through deep waters”) and more importantly, to know that God will be with us in those times (“I will be with you”). If you are experiencing a time of suffering, I pray that this verse will comfort you. God is faithful and keeps all His promises.
To make the card, I used Kraft card for the base and cut and scored it according to Jackie’s instructions. Then I cut the nautical-theme design paper to fit the top and bottom sections. For the middle section, I used a SU! embossing folder to emboss an ocean-themed pattern onto white card stock and then cut it down to fit that section of the card. I then stamped the whale from a SU! stamp set and cut him out using the coordinating punch. I added some pearlescent gems to embellish the front panel and adhered the two sentiment panels with the verse from Isaiah using foam tape. To finish embellishing the card, I stamped and die cut a sand dollar and sea star and adhered them to the bottom panel.

Thanks, Karen! I think the whale punch is retired, but I'm sure you can find it on eBay, or someone in the Pals FB group may have one they want to sell.
