Share A Milkshake Canopy and Pop Up Wave Birthday Card

My grandson turned 1 year old on the 4th of July, and I wanted an extra special card for my favorite little firecracker! I combined a couple fun fold card designs to create this ice cream themed card for him. The front of the card features a "canopy" element with a circle window that allows the ice cream sundae with hot fudge to show through. I saw the idea here: ðŸ”´ 6" x 6" Double Display Pop- Up Canopy Card| Livestream - YouTube. I modified the idea to go on the front of my card and only used one canopy (this card is already ridiculously thick already due to the pop up wave mechanism on the inside, but thankfully I hand delivered it, so I didn't need to worry about it going through the mail). I learned my lesson from a similar card I made recently where elements of the card front weren't quite lined up exactly, so this time I adhered the stamped and die cut ice cream elements to a piece of pattern paper BEFORE I adhered that to the card base. Then I added my canopy panel with a die cut circle to display the ice cream. Finally, I added some sequins and other metallic embellishments as well as the stamped and fussy cut sentiment: "For a very happy birthday." The stamp is from Stampin' Up's Beautifully Happy retired stamp set. Apart from the letters to create my grandson's name on the back of the card, the other stamps and dies used on the card are from Stampin' Up's Share a Milkshake stamp and die sets. If you don't have a SU! demonstrator and would like to purchase these stamps and dies, scroll down to where I've included links to my friend Debbie Mageed's SU! online store.

For the inside of the card, I followed Sam Calcott's instructions for a pop up wave card and used a cut file graciously provided by Sabine Harris in the Silhouette Card Making & Papercrafting FB group I'm part of. Sabine took Sam's measurements to create the cut file I used for the tiers you'll see inside the card. You don't need an electronic cutting machine to create this card though. Here's a look at Sam's video where she shows the measurements and explains how to assemble the card: Have you seen this Pop-Up 'Stadium" Wave Card! | WOW!!! 🤩 - YouTube

In keeping with the ice cream theme on the front of the card, I created 7 waffle cones with different "flavors" of ice cream to adhere to the tiers of white card stock that create the wave effect. The center waffle cone also has whipped cream and a cherry to go with the "You're the cherry on top" sentiment I adhered onto the bottom right side of the card. I also stamped and fussy cut the "Celebrate" sentiment and popped it up using foam tape. All the stamps and dies on the inside of the card come from the Stampin' Up Share A Milkshake stamp and die sets.

For the back of the card, I created another waffle cone with three scoops of ice cream, some whipped cream, a spoon, and a cherry on top. The Share A Milkshake set comes with 3 sizes of heart dies, so I die cut a few of them to decorate the back of the card. I also added the "Life is sweeter with you" sentiment on foam tap and then die cut the letters for my grandson's name using Lawn Fawn's Oliver's alphabet dies and different colors of cardstock scraps. Life is definitely sweeter with Sawyer in it! My husband and I feel so blessed to be grandparents!
