Happy Easter Card for A Perfect Time to Craft

I recently was blessed to win 1st prize and a spot as a Guest Designer over on the A Perfect Time to Craft blog, so here I am sharing my GD card for which I used one of the digital paper and topper sets I won called Floral Crucifix. This is a beautiful set that includes 8 lovely pattern papers and a sheet of coordinating crosses. I thought it would be perfect for an Easter card. Of course you could use the floral and foliage papers for any occasion, but the cross toppers made me think of Easter. If you'd like to check out this digi paper collection as well as the other beautiful sets Anne-Constantly-Carding has created, here's a link to her products on the CraftsUPrint website: Products by Anne Constantly-Carding. And if you'd like to join the fun over on the A Perfect Time to Craft blog, it's always anything goes and unlimited entries, so do be sure to add your projects to the linky here: A Perfect Time To Craft Open Challenge.

To create my card, I followed a tutorial by Susan Campfield here: Two Tier Eclipse Technique! Beautiful True Blue DSP! Fun Fold Card!!. I followed her measurements for the basic card design.

I started by choosing 3 of the pattern papers from the Floral Crucifix digital set along with the sheet of cross toppers and printed those onto white cardstock. Then I found hunter green cardstock and light pink cardstock to match the colors in the papers. I created a base out of the hunter green cardstock by trimming a panel to 5 1/2 by 7 1/2 and scoring on the long side at 1 inch and 4 1/4 inches. Then I trimmed a piece of light pink cardstock to 4 by 5 1/4 and embossed it using Altenew's Organic Linen 3D embossing folder. I like that the embossed and debossed sides of the paper show on this card and look nice from both sides.

Next, I trimmed some of the pattern paper to 3 by 4 1/4 for the front of the card and 3 more pieces of pattern papers at 3 by 5 1/4 for the inside panels of the card. I took out my Gina Marie Designs stitched nesting dies in hexagons, circles, and squares and set about die cutting the crosses and layers under the crosses. I also die cut a square and stamped "I am the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in Me...shall live. John 11:25." I thought that was a wonderful verse to use on an Easter card.

I adhered all the panels to the card base and then decided I wanted a little more color on the panel where my sentiment is. I die cut a piece of the pattern paper that I used on the front of the card and added the sentiment on top of that.

To finish the card, I added the "Happy Easter" die cut words (does anyone remember the Top Dog company? I loved their dies, and these word dies were from them) to the front of the card after adhering the hexagon cross with foam tape for some dimension.

The card doesn't want to lie flat because of the inner fun fold:

Here's a look at the inside of the card before the inner part is opened:
