Calla Lily Sympathy Card

I've been working on a lot of sympathy cards after a recent death in my extended family, and for this one, I thought I would use the new Craft-A-Flower: Calla Lily set I recently purchased when it was on sale. I love the Craft-A-Flower sets and am slowing adding more to my collection as they go on sale.

I was inspired to create this fun fold based on a photo on the Altenew website created by Jennifer Maguire. There weren't any measurements, so I played around creating a template and had the dimensions I wanted by the third try. I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 5 1/2 inches by 6 1/4 inches and scored at 1 1/2, 2, 4 1/4, and 4 3/4.

I was recently a Guest Designer for Your Paper Insider's Box 11, and I chose papers from that box for this card: Yellow Custard Rayon Shippou, Buttercream Arturo Cover, Fairway Metallic Stardream, Mai Tai Cocktail Shimmer, Champagne Foil, White Linen Acryl Art Board. There are still some of those boxes available for purchase here: https://yourpaperinsider.com/. Box 12 is currently shipping if you'd like to give the subscription a try. 28 specialty papers are included in each box, and the boxes ship quarterly. I'm not an affiliate for them, but I highly recommend them after testing out Box 11.

Once I had my card base, I trimmed my layers 1/4 inch smaller than the panels they are adhered to. I then die cut the 4 lilies in the set out of white linen cardstock and ink blended on them. I used a metallic paper for the anthers. After I die cut all the pieces, I assembled the flowers (so easy with Altenew's keyhole system!). I die cut a few leaves and stems and set to work arranging the flowers. I didn't like how much they blended into the yellow background, so I die cut a diamond out of foil cardstock using Altenew's Fine Frames: Diamonds Dies Set and adhered it to the center panel. I arranged my lilies and foliage on the diamond and adhered everything down using Art Glitter Glue and Altenew's Instant Dimension Foam Tape.

To finish the card, I stamped "Heartfelt sympathy" from Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Bewitching Rose project kit onto buttercream cardstock, trimmed it, and adhered it to the card using more foam tape.

I've recently become an affiliate for Altenew, so if you are interested in ordering something lovely from Altenew and would like to use my link, thank you very much! Here's the link: Carrie's Altenew affiliate page

  4. Such a lovely card, Carrie. I'm sorry for the circumstances though. It's good to have a stash of sympathy cards on hand though for sure. This one is so very pretty and special. The crisp flowers really pop but without being too "happy." I love the creative crease too. That's something I'm not too good at. Thanks so much for the inspiration, and for playing along with us at Word Art Wednesday!
