Sweet Harvest 4-Square Pop-Up Card

I'm back with another card from my Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP) Level 2 final project. I was required to create a masculine encouragement card and decided to use Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Sweet Harvest project kit and a fun fold design by Susan Campfield for this card. You can find all the measurements and instructions in Susan's video tutorial here: Tuesday Tutorial: Blackberry Beauty Four Square Pop Up Card

The papers I used for this card are all from Your Paper Insider except for the silver cardstock I used for the cooling rack die cut. I am thrilled to be on the first ever YPI Design Team, and I was sent a wonderful box full of goodies from them, and I'm excited to make more projects with all the great papers they sent me. For this card, the names of the papers are:
White EVO cardstock (for the card base), Mars Stardream (this burnt red paper has a beautiful metallic shimmery look to it), Rust Colorplan (a heavy duty orange cardstock), Copper Curious Alchemy, Touche Black Smooth (this has a velvety texture). Crocodile Gmund Alezan (I used the back of this for the pop-up strip inside the card, and it has a bit of shimmer to it and looks like a greenish gold) and Gold Gmund Treasury (up close, you can see flecks of gold in this cream-colored cardstock). For my 4-square pop-out card, I started by creating a side-fold A2 card base using white EVO cardstock. Then I cut the 1 3/4 inch by 11-inch strip of Crocodile Gmund Alezan cardstock and scored it at 2 3/4, 5 1/2, and 8 1/4 inches. Once I had the card base and fun fold strip made, I got to work die cutting and ink blending pieces using the dies in Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Sweet Harvest set. I die cut all the pieces for the pies, apples, cinnamon sticks, and slices of pie. I adhered all the pieces together following the guide included in the kit.

For the background on the front and inside panels of the card, I used the 3D embossing folder that comes in the Sweet Harvest kit. I trimmed 3 panels Touche Black Smooth cardstock to 4 by 5 1/4 inches and embossed them all. Then I ran a white pigment ink pad over them. I adhered them to the front and inside panels of the card. This embossing folder gives such a great texture, and it's different from any embossing folders I've seen on the market.

Next, I set about adding the pies, cooling rack, an apple, and a couple cinnamon sticks to the front of the card using liquid glue for some layers and Altenew's Instant Dimension Foam Tape for others. Then I stamped "sending you warm hugs" from the Sweet Harvest stamp set and trimmed the sentiment into 2 pieces to add to the card front.

For the inside of the card, I trimmed 4 panels of Mars Stardream metallic shimmer cardstock so they measured 1 1/2 by 2 1/2 each. I added slices of pie, some pieces of apple, and the "wishing you a harvest of happiness" sentiment (also from the Sweet Harvest kit) to the panels. I decided to add a bit of black cardstock behind the apple pieces so they showed up better against the Mars Stardream cardstock.

If you're interested in shopping at Altenew, I'd love it if you used my affiliate link here: Carrie's Altenew Link. I receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. I highly recommend the Sweet Harvest set as it's so versatile with cute dies, a unique embossing folder, a set of stencils, and a beautiful stamp set with a large image of an apple tree branch with 3 apples and lots of great sentiments.
