I recently attended a live crafting session with Altenew Educator Ishani and had fun creating this vintage card. She used different products on her card but also featured a lantern. What I love about creative crafting sessions with friends is that I can take an idea (like using a lantern) and use it in a completely different way.
For my card, I created a stenciled background using Altenew's Vintage Motifs stencil and Altenew's Pearl Shimmer Relief Paste. I added inks from Altenew's Dessert Dreams Fresh Dye Ink collection to give the panel a vintage look, going with Cocoa Cream at the edges, Apricot Frost as the middle layer of color, and finally Orange Sorbet in the center.
To decorate the panel, I created the lantern using Altenew's Decorative Lantern Layering Die set and various metallic and colored cardstocks. I ink blended a bit of Cocoa Cream to some of the pieces and assembled the lantern and candle. I ink blended Altenew's Firebrick ink on the flame of the candle. Once I had my lantern assembled, I die cut some foliage using Altenew's Zero Waste: Berries and Branches die. The die cuts loads of leaves and berries all at once. I saved the other pieces for future projects after choosing the 2 pieces I wanted to add behind my lantern. I added them to the panel using Bearly Art liquid glue and then added the lantern using Altenew's Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
Next, I stamped the verse (from Papertrey Ink's Light of Life stamp set) using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and Altenew's Clear Embossing Powder on a strip of vellum and then heat set the powder. I like to use clear embossing powder over any inks I stamp on vellum to help keep them from smudging. I adhered the vellum to the bottom of the card to complete the front panel (I had added double sided adhesive to the entire vellum strip before stamping on it so the adhesive wouldn't show when I took off the release paper and added the vellum to the card.)
To finish the card, I glued the panel to a white top-folding A2 card base.
If you're interested in doing some crafty shopping at Altenew, I'd be so grateful if you used my affiliate link here: Carrie's Altenew Link. I receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. Altenew carries many wonderful layering die sets, stencils, pastes, and inks like I used on my card here.
