Alice in Wonderland Card

This card was inspired by a challenge over at The Outlawz. For the Friday Coloring Challenge this week, the theme is "Alice in Wonderland." There are loads of digital Alice in Wonderland stamps out there, but I settled on this one from Digital Stamp Design both because it was free (can't beat that!) and because I just love this scene.

I downloaded it and sized it up in my Silhouette Design Studio software then printed it out. I colored it with Copics and MEXPY markers, cut it out and matted it on red cardstock. I used a black glitter cardstock for the card base, scored it so it had a side fold, and planned out the other elements of the card. I thought the scene warranted a humorous sentiment, so I used a rubber stamp I've had for years that I've never had the right occasion to use. I stamped out the sentiment on the matching red cardstock from the matting I used for the digi, cut it out with my paper cutter and then adhered both image and sentiment with foam squares. After that, I added a couple crowns cut from Spellbinders Nested Crown die set that I cut and embossed on my Cuttlebug and then a couple hearts from a Papertrey Ink die set (Envelope Zipper die).
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

    Halloween Box

This box was a fun project. It combined elements of a few different challenges I wanted to enter and used one of my favorite Halloween digi stamps. The darling mouse with the balloons is a From the Heart Stamps digi called "Candy Run." The sentiments I used are included in the set.
I used my Silhouette Design Studio software to size and color most of the mouse. Then I duplicated him in a few different sizes to be sure I would have one that I liked when I put him on the slider. I also did some candies with cut files as you can see from my screen shot.
Next I got to work creating the box. For detailed instructions, got to Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday tutorial for the week of Sept. 28. My box is bigger than the one made on the video, but the idea is the same.
I cut 2 5x7 inch pieces of purple shimmer cardstock for the front and back of my box. Then I cut and scored a piece of the same cardstock to work as the bottom of the box, trimming the corners as shown in the Make it Monday video. I also cut and scored the sides of the box and adhered them to the bottom with glue tape. I then adhered the back of the box the same way.
This is after all the sides had been adhered.
For the front of the box, I wanted an interactive element, so I used my Papertrey Ink Movers and Shakers collection Sliders dies to die cut a track for my little mouse to slide on. I also cut some other pieces of cardstock to follow the sketch for the I {heart} Sketches Challenge on the From the Heart Stamps blog this week. I liked the colors in these pattern papers and chose to color my mouse and candies with the same color palette.
I adhered the banner piece and "Happy Halloween" sentiment with glue tape and used foam squares for the "It's all about the candy" sentiment. I used glue tape and foam squares on the various candies I used to embellish the box front.
For the slider feature, I glue taped some of the purple cardstock behind the pattern paper to give it more stability and then die cut the slider track with my Papertrey Ink die. I also die cut the inner circles from that set with coaster board from Papertrey Ink. I chose the mouse I thought fit on the slider track best and adhered him to the circles cut from coaster board. I then adhered the pattern paper to the box front with foam tape.
Here are some pictures of the mouse sliding along the front of the box.
I think I'll fill this box with some candy corn and other Halloween treats and give it to the family of my friend who just had skull surgery. For those who saw my earlier post about her Chiari Malformation surgery, thank you so much to everyone who prayed for her. She is still in the hospital but has already noticed some improvements since the surgery on the 28th. Meanwhile her children are being brave for her. I'd like them to have a special treat to take their minds off things for a moment. (The youngest is only 5.)

    Bugaboo Ice Cream Girl

This card uses a Bugaboo digi stamp that was one of the first prizes I won when I started entering card challenges thus past July. She's just darling!
The Outlaw color challenge this week uses the Australian flag for inspiration, and the new set of Copic markers my husband got me for my birthday last week has the perfect colors to match! Yippee! So I just sized her up to fit in my Spellbinders Elegant Ovals die and then printed her out and colored her with the Copics. I die cut her and adhered her to a black A2 card with foam squares. It's a simple card, but the image takes center stage this way.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
