I recently attended a workshop led by Altenew Educator Pam Bodecker, and she had us make a shaker card using Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Honeycomb Haven project kit. She stenciled her background in purple, but I wanted to use the colors from Altenew's Monthly Inspiration Challenge, so I did the background stenciling in shades of blue. Then instead of making a honey jar with the stamp set from the kit, I turned mine into a jar of strawberry jam.
To create the jam jar, I stamped the jar from the Honeycomb Haven kit twice. This stamp in a layered stamp, and I layered the bottom of the first stamp with the pink "jam" and the top layers of the second jar stamp with green for the layers of the lid. I die cut a small circle out of the first jar and added acetate behind the hole in the die cut to create the shaker. I adhered the circle I had die cut from the jar to the stenciled card panel and added some cute little strawberry and sprinkles shaker bits to the circle. I then fussy cut the green lid and added some blue twine to it before adhering it to the first jar with the acetate. I added Altenew's Instant Dimension Foam Tape to the back of the jar and then adhered it over the die cut circle and shaker bits.
I die cut a few strawberries from Altenew's Strawberry Patch die set to add to the card and stamped the sentiments "have an awesome day" and "happy birthday" from the Honeycomb Haven kit. I adhered the "happy birthday" sentiment using more foam tape and then adhered the longer sentiment using Bearly Arts liquid glue. I popped up the larger 2 strawberries on foam tape as well and then adhered the small strawberry to the birthday banner using liquid glue for the part that adheres to the banner and foam tape for the part that adheres to the stenciled background.
This card is for my son-in-law's birthday this week. He's a big fan of my homemade jam!
