Mother's Day Planter Card

I recently attended an online card class led by Altenew Educator Liz Ortiz, and I created this little planter with a pocket for a gift card or small note.

I started by trimming woodgrain cardstock into strips for the outside and inside layers of the planter. Then I trimmed strips of black cardstock for the legs of the planter. I followed Liz's instructions and glued the planter and pocket for my little notecard together.

Then I decorated planter with flowers I die cut using Altenew's Craft-A-Flower: Dahlia April Heather die set. I die cut them in pretty spring colors using papers I had watercolored and/or sprayed with various ink sprays. I assembled the flowers and added them in various places on the planter using Bearly Arts liquid glue.

For the notecard I placed in the pocket of the planter, I trimmed a piece of pink cardstock to fit in the pocket and added some yellow paper I had sprayed with Altenew's Warm Sunshine Metallic Shimmer Spray to the front. The "Happy Mother's Day" stamp is an old rubber stamp from my stash, and the "MOM" die cut letters were die cut using the alphabet die from Altenew's Creative Cuts: EZ Arrangement Antique Leaves set. The "thank you for the laughs, the listening, and the love" and the "you're simply the best" stamps are from Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Magnificent Magnolias project kit. I thought they were the perfect sentiments for my wonderful mom.

If you're interested in doing some crafty shopping at Altenew, I'd be so grateful if you used my affiliate link here: Carrie's Altenew Link.  I receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. Altenew carries many wonderful layering die sets like the one I used here.

  1. Carrie, this is such a very sweet Mother’s Day card! It’s so very clever the way you have made that planter and put the flowers in and around it. Thanks so much for playing along with us at Word Art Wednesday. We appreciate your participation!
