Just For You 4-Panel Z-Fold Card

I've recently started creating some cards to have on hand to include in my care packages for when my youngest daughter deploys later this year, and I thought it would be fun to make a fall-themed one with pumpkins on it. I used Lynn Dunn's 4-Panel Z-Fold Card design, and if you'd like the measurements and instructions for this 4-Panel Z-Fold Card, be sure to check out Lynn's tutorial here: 4-Panel Z Fold Card Design - Lynn Dunn - Stamptastic Designs LLC.

I chose some yellow and orange cardstock for the card base and some of the layers and trimmed and scored everything according to Lynn's measurements. Then I created the pumpkin panel using a technique from an Altenew Educator class called Magical Marker Techniques. I scribbled my Ohuhu alcohol ink markers onto some acetate and spritzed with isopropyl alcohol. Then I ink smooshed a white panel onto the alcohol ink to create a background. I then stamped Altenew's Pumpkin Patch stamp onto the panel and embossed it with the coordinating embossing folder. I cut the panel into strips to fit the layers of the card front and adhered them to the orange strips I had trimmed already. Then I added them to the front of the yellow card base.

For the inside of the card, I used another technique from the Magical Marker Technique class. I scribbled with a few alcohol ink markers onto acetate and spritzed the scribbles with isopropyl alcohol again, but this time I used a paintbrush to pick up the colors and splatter them on a white panel. I used a few different yellows and oranges (the same colors I had used for the ink smooshing on the front of the card). Then I put the panel in the card without adhering it down just to see where I needed to stamp my "just for you" sentiment (also from the Pumpkin Patch set) so it could be seen when the card is closed. I stamped the sentiment and adhered the panel to the inside of the card.

For the fence, I used Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Rustic Charm set and trimmed the die cut a little so the fence wasn't as long. I used Altenew's Pretty Pumpkins Layering Die for the two pumpkins in front of the fence. I only used the bottom layers and the stem dies from the set, and I die cut them pumpkins out of metallic cardstock I had colored with alcohol inks. I finished the card by adding 3 black enamel dots from Altenew's Colorful Wonder Enamel Dots set.

Here's a look at the process for creating the background where I've stamped and embossed the pumpkins. I scribbled with my alcohol ink markers onto acetate:

Then I sprayed them with isopropyl alcohol:

Then I smooshed them onto my cardstock. This is a look at the first smooshing, but I added more scribbles, more alcohol, and more smooshing the fill the panel:

Sweet Birthday Z-Fold Card

My granddaughter will be turning one very soon, and I thought it would be fun to make her a card with little macaron cookies on it because she has a sweet tooth already!

I started by making an A2 card base and then scoring the front flap in the middle at 2 1/8 inches and then folding the card back on the score line to create the Z-fold card base. Then the fun began! I die cut the pieces for ten little macarons using Altenew's Sweet Nasturtium Layering Die Set which includes a lovely flower, some pretty foliage, and this cute little macaron.

After die cutting all the tiny pieces, I assembled the macarons following the guide on the packaging. Then I chose added some sparkly papers to the inside of the card and began arranging the macarons on the front panel. I added them with foam tape for some dimension and then trimmed off the ones that went over the sides. I then added the trimmed pieces to the panel to complete the decorating on the front.

For the inside of the card, the macarons would have been lost on the pink glitter paper I used for that section, so I added a piece of white linen cardstock and arranged 3 macarons towards the bottom of the panel. I then stamped "sweet birthday wishes" using a stamp from Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Meadow Breeze for the "sweet" sentiment and the "birthday wishes" stamp from Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Sweet Buttercups kit. I stamped the sentiment onto the same purple cardstock I had used for the card base. I adhered the sentiment using Art Glitter liquid glue and then adhered the macarons using a mix of liquid glue and Altenew's Instant Dimension Foam Tape.

There's a lot of fun sparkle on this card due to the specialty papers I used. All the papers used to create this card came from Your Paper Insider's Box 11. I was a Guest Designer for that box and have since become an affiliate for them. Box 12 is set to arrive soon, and I am looking forward to creating with the papers in that one, too. Museum Gallery Fun Fold Birthday Card

My youngest daughter has a birthday this month, and I wanted to send her a special birthday card in a small package I'm mailing to her this week. She's in the Navy and is stationed out in San Diego. I'm going out to visit her in October, so we decided to celebrate her birthday when we're together then, but I still wanted to send out a card. I recently watched Rachel Tessman create a fun fold card she called a Museum Gallery Fun Fold, and I immediately thought of doing a few of Altenew's floral dies in mini frames to look like a gallery of floral paintings at a museum for my daughter's card. If you'd like the measurements and instructions for this fun fold, here's a link to Rachel's video: Beautiful Blues Museum Gallery Fun Fold Card.

I created the card base and white panels for the bottom of the card using heavyweight white cardstock. All the other papers I used on my card come from Your Paper Insider's Box #11. I was a guest designer for that box and am enjoying creating with all the lovely papers in it. If you're interested in ordering Box 11 or signing up for a subscription to receive a box of mystery papers every 3 months, check out Your Paper Insider's website here: Your Paper Insider. They are now shipping Box 12. Papers used on my card: Rose Edo Kosome, Cotton Candy Pop Tone, Lilac Favini Burano, Lavender Thai Unryu, Pale Blue Thai Unryu, Fairway Metallic Stardream, Yellow Custard Rayon Shippou, Buttercream Arturo Cover, Mai Tai Cocktail Shimmer, Savanna Tindaloo Gmund, Coffee Cover Reflex, and Champagne Foil.

After I created the card base and bottom panels, I started on the flowers. Altenew has recently been creating small floral die sets that are beautiful and are the perfect size when you want a floral accent without a large flower that takes up the entire card front (although I love those, too!). I used three of these smaller floral die sets for this card: Cute Open Rose Layering Die Set, Delicate Magnolia Layering Die Set, and Bright Bloom Layering Die Set. I had fun die cutting these sweet little flowers and leaves. Assembling them was easy with Altenew's keyhole system. Just line up the keyholes for perfect placement every time!

After my flowers were finished, I die cut the little frames and "canvases" for them. I used metallic card stock for the squares in the center and 3 different cardstocks for the thin frames around the squares. I used Altenew's Fine Frames Square Die Set for these pieces.

I followed Rachel's instructions for assembling the card and for the measurements for the back panels. I used a spray adhesive to adhere the specialty paper to the white cardstock for the blue panels behind all my framed flowers. Rachel left her bottom pop-out panels white, but I decided to add more of the specialty papers from Box 11 to those panels to add more color to the card. I trimmed them 1/8 inch smaller than the panels of the pop-out sections.

For the sentiment, I stamped "happy birthday" using Altenew's Bouquet of Poppies set. I trimmed it and added it to the same metallic cardstock I used for the squares behind my flowers. Then I added a foliage die cut behind the sentiment that I created using Altenew's Zero Waste: Berries & Branches set.

The card folds somewhat flat for mailing. I used foam tape on my flowers, so the panels don't close completely flat the way Rachel's did using just pattern paper on the panels.

Double Slider Birthday Card

I recentlly attended the Card Maker Success Summit, and Einat Kessler demonstrated how to create a double slider card during her presentation. I need a birthday card for my husband this month, so I decided to create a camping-themed card using the double slider card design.

I started by choosing Altenew's Stencil Art: Serene Landscapes stencil set to create all the background panels. I used the following Altenew inks: Desert Night, Reindeer Moss, Lime, and Choco Hazelnut. I used Altenew's Antique Silver Shimmer Relief Paste for the starry skies. I stamped "happy birthday" using a stamp from Altenew's Bouquet of Poppies set.

Then I created the card base and adhered all the panels together as Einat showed in her video. If you'd like to see how to create this card, I found the same video I watched during the CMSS on Einat's YouTube channel from a few years ago here: 12 Cards of Christmas 2021 - Double Slider Card. You can download the measurements for free, also.

Once I had the card assembled, I die cut the camper using Altenew's Cute Camper Layering Die Set. I added it to the card front using Altenew's Instant Dimension Foam Tape. My husband loves camping, so I think he's going to enjoy this card.

Sunshine Flowers Sending Love Fun Fold

I've become good friends with my daughter-in-law's mother, and I like to send her cards now and then because she battles a very serious autoimmune disease. I like to send something cheerful and lovely to brighten her spirits.

For this card, I created a tri-fold card using measurements from a card class I recently took at my local Craft Outlet. The base is 4 1/4 by 11 inches, scored at 2 1/2, 3 3/4, 6 3/4, and 8 1/4. I used cream cardstock for the base.

The green layers are: (2) 4 by 4 inch squares and (1) 2 1/2 by 4 inch piece.

The watercolored and embossed layers are 3 3/4 by 3 3/4, and the final watercolored and stamped panel is 2 1/4 by 3 3/4.

Products used: Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Sunshine Flowers for the large floral image. I stamped it, die cut it, and then stenciled it with the coordinating stencils. The "hello, friend" die cut sentiment is from that same set, as is the "sending you sunshine and happiness" stamped sentiment. The embossing folder I used is also from Altenew. It's called "Raised Sentiments." Altenew inks used: Warm Sunshine, Fresh Lemon, Coral Berry, Orange Cream, Lime, and Fresh Leaf.

Assembling this card is easy! I just adhered my layers together and then adhered them to the card base in the places I wanted them. I added a little black ink with a small blending tool to the "sending love" sentiment from the Raised Sentiments embossing folder on the front of the card and added a small die cut from Altenew's Zero Waste: Berries & Branches die and a few of Altenew's Emerald City Gem Sparkles to finish the card.

I've recently become an affiliate for Altenew, so if you are interested in ordering something lovely from Altenew and would like to use my link, thank you very much! Here's the link: Carrie's Altenew affiliate page

You're The Sweetest Sweet Treats Card

I recently purchased Altenew's Sweet Treats layering die set with 6 different layered cookies, and I thought it would be fun to do some in-laid die cutting with the cookies. I started with a white A2 card base. Then I chose a scrap of dark brown cardstock and trimmed it to fit the card front. Then I took some cream colored textured cardstock, and I arranged the bottom layers of the cookie dies over the panel, leaving room for the sentiment. I ran the panel through my die cutter and then added the panel to the dark brown cardstock. I glued both layers to the card base and then began die cutting the layers of the cookies. Once I had finished die cutting, I arranged the pieces in the negative spaces. Then I trimmed the parts that hung over the card panel.

Next, I stamped and die cut the "You're the sweetest" sentiment from Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Garden Whispers project kit. I die cut a layer of fun foam with the sentiment die to add some dimension to the sentiment and then adhered the layers together and added the sentiment to the card front.

I decided the purple glitter paper I had used for the jam-filled cookie looked a little unbalanced with only browns for everything else, so I die cut more of the same glitter paper using Altenew's Zero Waste: Ornamental Winter Pattern Die and used the little circles and stars it die cut as embellishments for the card front.

I usually make fun fold cards, so even though this card has multiple layers, it feels like a CAS card to me! 😂

I've recently become an affiliate for Altenew, so if you are interested in ordering something lovely from Altenew and would like to use my link, thank you very much! Here's the link: Carrie's Altenew affiliate page

Here's a look at the process. I die cut the cookies out of the cream cardstock and then adhered the cream cardstock to the dark brown cardstock and adhered that to the A2 card base. Then I added the layers of the cookies to the negative spaces:

Praying for You Z-Fold For Creative Creases #106

It's time for the start of the August challenge over on the Creative Creases Challenge blog today, and I created a variation of a Z-Fold card for my Design Team inspiration this time. I followed the instructions and measurements from Maria Mench's blog post here: The perfectly paired suite for the Fun Folds Blog Hop! - Maria's Crafting Corner. Thanks for the inspiration, Maria!

I was recently a Guest Designer for Your Paper Insider and was given Box 11 to create with, and the papers I used for my card are all from that box. If you are interested in learning more about Your Paper Insider's quarterly subscription box, here's the link: https://yourpaperinsider.com/. I'm not an affiliate, but I highly recommend them. I have enjoyed creating with the 28 papers of different types and weights of 8 1/2 by 11 papers that were in Box 11. The papers I used for my card are: Lavender Glitter Gloss, Pink Floral Sukashi, Cotton Candy Pop Tone, Plum Non-Shed Glitter, Savanna Tindaloo Gmund, and Coffee Cover Reflex for the card base.

This card was mostly just trimming, scoring, and layering the elements. I used a spray adhesive for the Pink Floral Sukashi paper because it's as thin as vellum and I was afraid other adhesives would show through it.

Once the card layers were adhered, it was time to decorate! I chose Altenew's Creative Cuts: Houseplants Die Set and die cut all the pieces for that and then assembled the cute little pot and leaves and adhered them to the left panel of the card. The flowers on the plant are from Altenew's Fresh Flowers Die Set while the flowers by the sentiment are from the Houseplants Die Set. The "praying for you" sentiment is from Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Casual Bouquets set.

To finish the card, I added a few of Altenew's Whispering Woodland Enamel Dots.

I've recently become an affiliate for Altenew, so if you are interested in ordering something lovely from Altenew and would like to use my link, thank you very much! Here's the link: Carrie's Altenew affiliate page
