Fishing Vest Father's Day Card

My father-in-law and son both love to fish, so when I saw this free fishing vest card SVG file over at Dreaming Tree, I knew what card I would be making for both of them for Father's Day this year! After choosing my olive and tan papers and cutting out all the little elements using my Silhouette Cameo 4, I inked the edges of the tan elements to give them a weathered look and used a fine tip black marker to trace all the lines of stitching. Then I adhered the pockets using foam tape to give them some dimension. The inside can hold a gift card, so for my son's card, I added one to his favorite store: Amazon😁! Then I stamped the "Happy Father's Day" sentiment onto the back. For my father-in-law's card, I added the sentiment to the middle of the card and covered the gift card tabs that way since instead of a gift card, he'll be getting whatever tool my husband picks out for him this year. I made a few extras of this card design to donate to a fundraiser at my local library, too, because it's  just so darling.

Watermelon Father's Day Card

My dad loves watermelon and puns, so when I saw this free watermelon card SVG file over at Dreaming Tree, I immediately thought of my "You're one in a melon" stamp from the Stamps of Life and knew I had to make this card for Father's Day! I know my dad will love it! It was such a quick and easy card to make that I made some extras to donate to an upcoming fundraiser at my local library. 

The free cut file is found here: Watermelon Card Premium SVG File for Cricut, Silhouette CAMEO, ScanNCut - SVG Files For Cricut and Silhouette - 3DSVG.com if you're interested in making a similar card. It could work well for "Thanks a melon" cards or summer invitations, etc. 

To make the card, I found some double-sided paper that has red on one side and black on the other for the card base. The file comes with a piece you can cut in black cardstock to place behind the red piece with the seeds cut out of it, but since my cardstock had black on one side already, I didn't need that piece. Next, I chose some white and green cardstock and cut all the elements out using my Silhouette Cameo 4. For the stamping, I used my MISTI to curve the "Happy Father's Day" stamp into the shape of the rind and then stamped all those green pieces at once. I then added the "You're one in a melon" stamp to the MISTI and stamped all the inside white pieces with that sentiment. The card file comes with a cute summer-themed envelope, but I decided to use red envelopes I already had and I just stamped them all in my MISTI using the watermelon border stamp from the same Stamps of Life set the "You're one in a melon" sentiment came from. I added a plain green strip on top of the white for the bottom of the rind and then popped up a green strip with "Happy Father's Day" using foam tape to give it some dimension. 

I'm incredibly blessed to have a wonderful Christian father who has so generously provided love, encouragement, and prayer support throughout my life. Most importantly, he helped teach me about my Heavenly Father and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from a young age. I pray that each of you will be certain of how very loved and valued you are by God our Heavenly Father: But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

Romans 13:14 Armoire Cards

This week's card for the shut ins from my church features an armoire-shaped card with the verse: "Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ" from Romans 13:14. I transformed an armoire SVG into a shaped card and then designed doors for it to open. I embossed the doors using a woodgrain embossing folder and scored them so they would open up to display the verse inside.  I wanted to play along with the Time Out Challenge, so I added mirrors to the inside of the armoire doors to go with the mirrored tiers in the cart in the inspiration photo.

Z-Fold Heart Anniversary Card

A sweet couple from my church have a wedding anniversary coming up soon, and as they are part of the shut in group I send weekly cards to, I thought this week I would make them a special anniversary card. The husband is in his 90s and has some very serious health problems, so hopefully this will cheer them both up a bit to have something to celebrate.

For the card base and layers, I used a Silhouette Design Store cut file. I chose some pretty floral paper and some cardstock with red on one side and black with a spotted design on the other. I stamped the magnolia flower from Hero Arts Hero Florals Magnolia twice in Versamark ink and embossed the flowers with gold embossing powder. Then I colored them with my Ohuhu Honolulu alcohol ink markers. I adhered the first magnolia flower to the front of the card with foam tape and then stamped "Happy Anniversary" and fussy cut the sentiment and added it with foam tape, too. For the inside of the card, I stamped "Congrats" from Hero Arts' Congrats & Happy stamp & cut set, but I thought it looked a little flat, so I die cut the word from the same set using black adhesive-backed foam and then adhered it over the stamped word. For the back of the card, I added a couple layers of hearts and then another magnolia flower. I left some white space for the message I wrote them thanking them for their example of Christian marriage. They have been happily married for over 60 years.
