MHK Designs Easter Card

I'm either really late or really early for an Easter card, but this digi from MHK Designs just seemed like the perfect digi to use for our twist this week over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge. I sized up the sentiment and dig (both from MHK Designs "He Is Risen" set) using my Silhouette Design Studio software. I printed the lilies on Kraft and the sentiment on white cardstock. I used Gina Marie Designs "Rounded Stitched Rectangle" die set for the card base and the front panel and a Gina Marie Designs "Stitched Fishtail Banner" die for the sentiment. Then I used a Spellbinders cross die that I die cut using adhesive foam for some dimension and adhered that on top of a Spellbinders flourish die. I thought the corner needed just a touch more white for balance, so I added a small flower from the Gina Marie "X Stitch Rectangle" set that comes with small flower, heart and star dies. I added some pearls to the flower and flourish die cuts to finish off my embellishments. 

The digi was colored using Inkssentials opaque white pen for the lilies, a yellow Wink of Stella pen for the anthers (I discovered that's the technical name for the tops of the stamens! Learn something new every day!) and green colored pencil for the leaves. I really like the look of the white on Kraft paper. 

 

 

The Huntress Vintage Card

This week over at The Paper Shelter, the challenge was to use lace on your entry. Well, I'm glad I took a picture of the base of this card before I added all my "goodies," because most of the lace ended up covered by the embellishments I used! It's funny how I can get started adding a little bit here and there and wind up covering the whole card! 

The image I used from TPS is called "The Huntress," and she comes in pre-colored and outline-only forms along with some lovely digi paper to match. Here I've used the pre-colored image and made a print and cut file of her using my Silhouette Design Studio software. 

This card has a 5x7 inch Kraft card base I trimmed down slightly. 

Then I adhered a piece of cream and pink damask cardstock and used spray adhesive to adhere my lace panel onto the cardstock. I followed that layer with 2 triangular die cuts from an old Spellbinders set called "Botanical Swirls and Accents." I added some foliage die cuts in yellow cardstock and blue vellum as well as a blue vellum doily. The open leaves are called "Lorelai Outline Leaves" by PoppyStamps. The doily die is "Amour Doily" by Die-Versions, and the other 2 foliage dies are "Casual Trees" Fri-dies by CAS-usual Friday Stamps. 

Then I went a little crazy! I added lots of pretty flowers and some adhesive chipboard pieces from the Prima set "Tales of You & Me." They have such a lovely vintage look! 

Here you can see a bit of the lace peeking through! 

There's also a die cut vellum flower and vine from Gina Marie Designs I added to the chipboard post card if you look carefully. 

I used a little cream silk ribbon for the lower left-hand corner of the card and moved the butterfly from the post card to the ribbon instead. (In case you noticed the butterfly in some of the other pictures!) I love the cute little letter in this set of chipboard die cuts, too! 

This card was a fun one to make. You may have noticed I like to play with dies. I might have a slight addiction to craft dies, but I'm guessing most of you reading this post have the same problem!
