KCC11 Sketch 4

Earlier this year, I heard about a card challenge where 6 pieces of 6X6 inch design paper were used to create 15 cards. I was intrigued and joined the Kendra's Card Challenge FB group to have access to the instructions. Every 3 months, Kendra creates a cutting guide and 15 sketches to create a set of cards with the 6 pattern papers of your choice. This is my first month to give it a go, and this card is from sketch 4 in the series of 15. Forgive me if you are reading multiple blog posts from this card series because I'm repeating the information about Kendra's Card Challenge (KCC) in each post for the 15 cards in the series. 

I recently bought a 6X6 paper pad with Christmas papers, and since Christmas in July is a popular theme for card challenges this month, I set to work cutting all 6 Christmas papers according to Kendra's guide. Let me tell you that I was glad my paper pad had multiples of each pattern because I messed up my cutting more than once! I think it will be easier the next time around, but my pro tip to you is to be sure you can give it your full attention where you are following the cutting guides for the 6 papers 😂. Something to consider that I hadn't realized before beginning this project was that there are a lot of extra pieces of cardstock required to create the cards. There are many layers to these cards that aren't included in the pieces cut for the sketches with the 6 pieces of 6X6 pattern papers, so keep that in mind. You'll want to have plenty of coordinating colors of card stock to use for your layers. 

Once I had all the papers cut, the fun part started! The card sketches can be adapted to any theme, and I found that I could use all sorts of bits and pieces from my Christmas stash. For this sketch, I die cut a couple white snowflakes and then used ephemera from a 49 and Market (the buttons and paper ribbon at the top of the card) set as well as a retired CTMH Christmas set (the deer with metallic stripes, the sentiment strips, and the stars with metallic centers).

For this card, I decorated it using a metal "Merry Christmas" tag, some glittery red floss 3 white die cut snowflakes, and a sentiment strip and truck with Christmas tree from 49 and Market's Holiday Wishes ephemera set.

I used a Tonic Studio die to die cut the "Love" sentiment and added some red glitter floss to the side. Then I arranged some ephemera from 49 and Market's Holiday Wishes set to finish decorating the card.

For this sketch, I stenciled the poinsettia wreath using my Stencils 360 platform and the aptly-named Poinsettia Wreath stencil. I cut the panel according to the card sketch instructions and then added the pattern paper strips the sketch called for. I decorated the card with some kraft stars with metallic accents from a retired CTMH set.

For this sketch, I used a die from Tonic Studios that has two parts: the background and the "Christmas" lettering. I used red for the lettering and a black pattern paper with Christmas greenery for the background. I used a Tim Holtz 3D embossing folder for the white layer to create the pine branches, and then I decorated the card with lots of ephemera from a 49 and Market Holiday Wishes set.

As You Like It Challenge: Favorite: Gingham or floral and why: I prefer florals because they are so elegant and pretty! I love how there are florals for all the seasons, from poinsettias at Christmas like on my card to tulips in the spring, to daisies in the summer time and mums in the fall. Abstract Blossom Stencil Cards

I've been having such a great time recently playing with my Stencils 360 platform and stencils from Penguin Palace! It's so much fun to try different degrees of rotation and different colors with the circular stencils that fit in the platform. This set of cards was made from one single stenciled image that was large enough to cut down into 4 panels for make 4 A2 cards. The stencil I used is called Abstract Blossom. I had a transparent sticker with Psalm 30:5 on it left from when I created a card for my GD spot over at Word Art Wednesday earlier this month, and I used it on one of the cards and then printed the verse on white card stock for the rest of the cards in the set. I added the verse to the inside of the other cards since I didn't want to cover any of the beautiful stenciled blossom. For the ones with the verse insde, I added butterflies or a dragonfly as an embellishment. These cards were already sent out to the shut ins I mail to, so I couldn't redo the photos I had taken. They aren't my best pictures (pardon the mess on my kitchen table that I wasn't able to edit out completely in some of the pictures😂), but hopefully you can get an idea of how gorgeous this stencil is. It really takes no talent on my part to create lovely designs using different angles with the Stencils 360 platform.
