The fish, sea star and shell were part of an underwater scene by our sponsor this month: Make it Crafty. You can check out their great digis here:
http://www.makeitcrafty.com
I did a trace of each digi using my Silhouette Design Studio software and then did an offset file. I made a mirror copy above the offset file and then moved the top copy down slightly to overlap the bottom copy so I could weld the pieces together to have a shaped flap for each object to hide the sentiment inside. I love interactive cards!
I used the scalloped border dies from Pink and Main to create two sets of waves for my scene with CTMH Valentine paper that has a slight "wave" pattern with hearts that I thought would be perfect for this ocean-themed card. I used one side of the paper for the top waves and the other side for the bottom waves to add some color variation. I glue taped the first layer to the base of my top-hinge card and then used thin foam tape on the next 2 layers and a thicker foam tape for the last layer.
Here's a look with the flaps closed and the sentiments hidden:
Now here's a look at the hidden sentiments when the flaps are open: "You're a reel catch," "You're a star," and "Let's Shell-abrate our love" worked well with the fish, sea star and shell. Can you tell I like puns?
I'm planning to enter this card in the following challenges:- Pink and Main Challenge (M, P1,SIO) #6 Love
- Tic Tac Toe Challenge: Bingo (love-sentiment "Let's Shell-Abrate our love," Shimmer-Dew Drops, Hearts-patterned papers) http://tictactoechallenge.blogspot.com
- Unicorn Challenge M, 1st Tuesday of M, E3, No fully digital projects February - Lots of Love
What a clever idea, to hide the sentiments inside of the shells. How much fun it would be to receive this well planned card, Carrie. I love it!
ReplyDeleteCute underwater scene,Carrie! I love that you did it in pink! I expect to see The Little Mermaid swim by!
ReplyDeleteHello Carrie, thank you for becoming my newest follower. I have come to see your blog and creations. And now your newest follower as well. :)
ReplyDeleteSweet card, Carrie! I like how the little shells open up to reveal the sentiments! Nice idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card! I'm super impressed with all you can do with your silhouette and I LOVE the lift-the-flaps you were able to create. The little dew drops are such a fun way to add shimmer, too. Thanks so much for joining us for Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #3!
ReplyDeleteThis came out fantastic!! I cannot believe you did all that fun stuff with your Silhouette!! I am clearly NOT utilizing my machine to its potential. The little flaps on the fish are just too clever. Thank you for playing with Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.
