It's time for a new challenge over at Creative Creases Challenge where it's always anything goes with a fun fold project. For my Guest Designer card this time, I've made a Half Star Illusion Card. You can find all the details on how to create this fun card design here: Half Star Illusion Card (Original Design) (youtube.com). And if you'd like to join the fun at Creative Creases Challenge by entering a fun fold project, here's the link to challenge #84: Anything Goes with a Fun Fold for Creative Creases #84 (secretstamper.com).
I want to give credit to Sabine Harris in the Silhouette Card Making and Paper Crafts FB group because she turned the measurements from the video I linked above into a cut file for use with electronic cutting machines like my Cameo. That made creating this card base so easy! I simply chose my pattern paper and then two colors of coordinating cardstock for the base card and matting layers. Then I cut out all the necessary pieces and watched the video on how to assemble everything to create this fun card.
To decorate the card, I used Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Rustic Charm kit that I just received in the mail this week. It was my first time using the set, and I have so many ideas for more projects to make with it! For this card, I started by stamping the roses and foliage onto vellum using VersaMark ink and then using white embossing powder to heat emboss the image. I love the look of white embossing on vellum! Then I tried something new that I've been seeing in the Altenew Fan Group FB page: coloring the BACK of the vellum with alcohol ink markers. I chose 3 shades of pinks and red and 2 shades of green to try to match my pattern paper and went to work coloring the back of the stamped and embossed image. I love how soft and pretty the coloring looks! I used a glue dot that I rolled up and spread just on the center edge of the front pop out and adhered the vellum piece to that. Then I stamped "happy birthday" and added those words using foam tape.
For the back of the card, I die cut and embossed the fence from woodgrain pattern paper and then stamped the branches and another rose and foliage image on white card stock. I die cut the stamped images and used the coordinating stencils to color them in. I adhered the two branches directly to the red panel on the back and then used foam tape to pop up the embossed fence. I added the rose focal point with a little liquid glue to the part that overlaps the fence and then fussy cut the "Celebrate you" sentiment and added it with another layer of foam tape.

Inspiration Station (inspirationstationchallenge.blogspot.com): Photo prompt. The photo has a birthday theme, and my card is a birthday card (1/3; ends at the end of the month)
Gorgeous card, Carrie! Wow, I love this fun fold and need to try it. The flower bouquets are stunning, front and back. You always have me wanting to purchase an electronic cutting machine (again). But my skills in the craft room just don't include more than a crank, I guess! Thank you so much for joining our DT for this challenge as always, your contribution is always greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Debbie! I love being a regular GD over at CCC! And you can definitely make this card without a Cameo or Cricut! Just follow the instructions in the video I linked above. You are an expert with fun folds!
