Tangerine Grove Card

I recently attended a class by Altenew Educator Aditi Mahajan, and although she used different products than I did, I my card was inspired by her fabulous class.

I created a 5 by 7-inch card base out of white cardstock and then trimmed off half of the front panel so that the inside of the card peeks through on the right side of the card. I then made layers of orange and black to add to the card base. On the black layer, I stenciled Altenew's Sweater Knits stencil using Altenew's Rose Gold Shimmer Relief Paste. I just wanted some touches of a metallic pattern in the background, so I randomly added the paste through various parts of the stencil. I set that aside to dry.

I had already stamped and die cut the tangerine image using Altenew's Craft-Your-Life: Tangerine Grove kit in preparation for Aditi's class, so during her class, I ink blended the image through the coordinating stencils. I used Fresh Leaf, Grape Agate, Plum, Orange Cream, and Cocoa Cream inks by Altenew for my stenciling. I then die cut a second die cut of the image in black to adhere to the back of the stenciled image because I liked the look of the black when the recipient opens the card.

Once the paste on my stenciled panel was dry, I trimmed the panel into two pieces and adhered the pieces onto the orange panels. Then I adhered the panels to the left front of the card and the right side of the inside of the card.

I stamped "wishing you all things wonderful" from the same CYL kit onto a piece of vellum using VersaMark ink and Altenew's Rose Gold embossing powder. I heat embossed the sentiment and mounted it to a piece of orange cardstock I trimmed just slightly smaller than the vellum. I adhered the sentiment to the inside of the card with Altenew's Instant Dimension Foam Tape after deciding where I would place the tangerine image. I wanted the sentiment to show even when the card is closed.

I then added the tangerine focal point to the card using more of the foam tape, being careful to add the tape only to the part of the image that would be adhered to the left side of the card.

I finished off the card by adding a few of Altenew's Whispering Woodland enamel dots.

Altenew Educators routinely offer excellent classes (many of them are completely free of charge), so I highly recommend checking out the upcoming classes here: AECP Cardmaking Workshops – Altenew. It's always a great time crafting with friends and learning new techniques.

If you're interested in shopping at Altenew, I'd love it if you used my affiliate link here: Altenew | Card Making, Scrapbooking & Paper Crafting Supplies. I receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. I highly recommend the Craft-Your-Life kits like the one I used here.
