A crafty friend of mine recently sent me a package of crafty goodies to play with, and I wanted to send her a special thank you card in appreciation of her thoughtfulness.
I started with a white, side-folding A2 card and die cut some watercolor paper I had used Lindy's Magical on to create the little ocean window scene. I used the largest die in Altenew's Ocean Window Die Set.
Next, I die cut the seahorse and seaweed using Altenew's Mini Delight: Graceful Seahorse set. I die cut the seahorse out of watercolor papers I had used various shades of gouache or Lindy's Magicals on. The seaweed was die cut from white cardstock, and then I ink blended some Lime ink from Altenew over the die cuts. I also used Lime ink on the larger seaweed/kelp in the upper part of the card. The coral, larger kelp, and starfish were all die cut using Altenew's Creative Cuts: Zero Waste: Beneath the Blue die.
I stamped the "sending oceans of thanks" sentiment and the underwater foliage behind the seahorse before adhering all the die cuts with a mixture of liquid glue and Altenew's Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
For the inside of the card, I added a few die cuts die cut from the same Beneath the Blue die I used for the die cuts on the top right of the front panel to the right side of the inside panel card and then die cut "you are so kind" out of black cardstock using Altenew's Essential Sentiment Strips die set. I added the sentiment over the die cuts to finish the card.

This is a lovely card, Carrie! That seahorse is so striking, and I really love the background too. I like how it is cut out on the white card stock. It really pops and is so eye-catching. Thanks so much for playing along with us at Word Art Wednesday. We appreciate your participation!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Barb!
DeletePretty underwater scene! It looks so real! The water is just amazing...I don't know how you used the mediums you mentioned, but it is fabulous and a perfect background for the seahorse and plants. Thank you for playing at Time Out!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Carol! With Lindy's Magicals, I like to gently mist my watercolor paper with water and then use a fan brush to splatter the powder on the paper. Then I keep misting to move the pigment around to the level of saturation I'd like. Lindy's Magicals truly ARE magical, and each background I make with them is unique!
