Bookmark Fun Fold Card

The Butterfly Spot Challenge this time is to make a bookmark card, and since I had never made one before, I reviewed the instructions ValeryAnn posted on the challenge blog. Her card design instructions are always very detailed instructions with plenty of pictures, so I had planned to follow them this time. Then I came across a similar card that included a fun fold, and I had to give that a try! I used a paper pad with a floral print for the pattern paper layers and a matching teal card stock for the card base. This is an A2 card, and I love how the bookmark on the top right holds the folds closed when the card is standing up. 

The measurements for the card are in the video linked above, and I followed those and added a decorative border to the side of the topmost fold of the card. I embossed the inner panel and used Hero Arts' Blessings stamp & cut set for the sentiment and butterfly on the inner panel. I colored the butterfly using my Ohuhu Honolulu alcohol ink markers. I added some pearls in various shades of purple and then created the bookmark in pattern paper from the same paper pad as the florals. I stamped the back of the bookmark using Hero Arts' Hero Florals Tulips stamp set for the sentiment and butterfly.

Song of Solomon Pop-up Squares Card

I recently purchased a file from the Silhouette Design Store called "Card Kit Pop Up Squares 5X5" and was excited to give it a try to create a wedding card and an anniversary card. The "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine" word art from Song of Solomon was also purchased in the Silhouette Design Store. I thought it would be perfect for these marriage/anniversary/romantic love-themed cards 😀. 

I have learned with new fun-fold card designs to create a template first, and I always use scrap paper or card stock I want to use up for the template, and then I keep the template with a sticky note on which I write the name of the card. This is so helpful! I like to look through my previous card templates to see the how the sizing looks and what stamps or dies will fit on the various parts of the card. If you make a lot of fun fold cards, how do you keep track of the designs? I'd love to hear your ways to organize them!

To begin making the cards (once I had finished my template), I chose a floral pattern paper and then looked for card stock in colors that would match the elements in the floral pattern. Then I created the card base and the inside pieces and glued all the pieces together. This card has a lot of layers, so I'm sending the wedding card in one of my padded envelopes and will pay the extra postage so it gets there in good shape. The anniversary card is for my best friend and her husband, so I can hand deliver that one.

The cards are very similar, and I used Hero Arts' Hero Florals Magnolia and Hero Florals Tulips for the flowers (the magnolias were embossed with gold embossing powder). I colored the flowers using my Ohuhu Honolulu alcohol markers and then fussy cut them. The sentiments (except for the verse from Song of Solomon and the word "anniversary") were also from Hero Arts sets: Blessings Stamp & Cut, Prayers Stamp & Cut, and Congrats & Happy Stamp & Cut. These sets have sentiments to cover a great variety of occasions! 

For the anniversary card, I die cut the word "blessings" out of the same light teal card stock I used for the card base and adhered it to the card front. I didn't think it showed up that well, so then I decided to die cut the word out of yellow adhesive-backed foam, and I offset it just a little to give it a shadow effect. I die cut 2 butterflies using SU! Butterfly Brilliance dies (thank you, Debbie Mageed! That set has been so handy!) and added some pearls to their bodies to embellish them. 

For the wedding card, I made a small panel using Hero Arts' Daisy Mosaic stencil and Prom Queen color lunar paste. You can't tell in the picture, but the lunar paste creates a really pretty shine and adds some cool texture. I definitely plan to make some bigger panels using that stencil and more lunar paste in the future!

Hero Arts Front Z Flap Graduation Card

I'm still catching up on graduation cards, and this one is for my best friend's daughter who graduated from Cornerstone University with a degree in social work. She already has a job lined up in her field and is very excited to begin this new chapter.

I chose some floral card stock for the Z Flap card base that matched the graduation hats and flowers digital pattern paper I wanted to use for the card. I also found some card stock in my stash that had small stars on it and was the right color to match the card base. I used my Silhouette Cameo 4 to cut out the pieces for the card base and all the mats, and then I did some die cutting and stamping to decorate the card. 

For the smaller flap on the outside of the card, I die cut Hero Arts Stacked Books Fancy Die and trimmed the bottom few books off of it so it would fit my panel. Then I stamped the cute little graduation bookworm from the Hero Arts Bookworm Messages stamp set. I also stamped some of the sentiments from that set to decorate the panel.

 

For the inside of the small z fold, I stamped "Congrats! Enjoy your new chapter!" from the Hero Arts Literally the Best stamp set. I adhered the z fold to the inside of the card and then worked on the flap on the right side of the card.

For the flap that goes just behind the z fold, I used black card stock to mat the graduation hats and flowers digital paper and then die cut the library card pocket and stamped the library card and the "Check you out!" sentiment from Hero Arts' Library Card Stamp & Cut set. Then I die cut the word "Congrats" from Hero Arts' Congrats and Happy Stamp & Cut set. I adhered this panel to the fold at the right side of the card. 

To finish the card, I stamped the sentiments I had used from the Bookworm Messages stamp set to decorate the inner panel on the far right side.

Graduation Cap Card

It's graduation season, and I've been working on a few different graduation cards recently. This set of 3 graduation cards uses a cut file I purchased in the Silhouette Design Store. I chose green and white card stock since those are the school colors for the 3 graduates to whom I'll be giving these cards. I cut all the pieces for the card base, mat, and cap/tassel using my Silhouette Cameo 4. After sizing up the digi stamp, I did a print and cut of the Gerda Steiner Designs graduation owl for each card and colored the owls using my Ohuhu Honolulu alcohol markers. I die cut the word "Congrats" using a Hero Arts stamp and die set and stamped the "on your graduation" words from the same set.

You're The Tops Slimline Stepper Graduation Card

 A young woman I once taught my first year as a Bible Study Fellowship Children's Leader is now graduating from high school, and I wanted to make her a very special card. I taught her starting when she was in first grade and then had her in several other BSF School Program classes as the years went on. Now she's grown into a young lady who is beautiful on the inside and the outside and who radiates Jesus' love to everyone around her. 

For the card base, I used a cut file I purchased in the Silhouette Design Store and modified it slightly so that I had an extra base for the back of the card on which to do a print and cut of the graduate's life verse that she had printed on her graduation party invitations. Hebrews 10:23 is such a wonderful verse at any stage of life: Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. I added a blue mat behind the verse since her school colors are navy blue and white. It's hard to tell in the photo, but the card base is navy blue. Then I used black for the graduation caps and the "You're the tops" sentiment. I adhered all the various layers to the different sections of the card and used foam tape to add dimension to the 4 caps that stand out from the graduation cap border toward the front of the card.

Tulip Double Bendy Engagement Card

This card was created for a very special occasion: my daughter's engagement! Her boyfriend invited my husband and me to Florida to be there the day he proposed (they were there on vacation), and so I set about making a special card to bring with me to give her the night of the proposal. I guess you can tell I was confident she would say yes😄! She did, and we had a wonderful weekend celebrating together!

This card design comes from Lisa Curcio's measurements and instructions found here: How to Make a 3D Fun Fold Window Card That Bends! - Lisa's Stamp Studio (lisasstampstudio.com). I modified the card a little but kept the base the same as Lisa's instructions. I chose some pretty floral card stock to decorate the base and set about cutting all the pieces for the base. Then I cut the "bendy" pieces for the front and back and die cut a window out of them. I trimmed the inner die cut from the piece that came out when I made the windows, and I stamped tulips from Hero Arts Florals Tulips stamp set onto the die cuts and colored them with Ohuhu Honolulu alcohol markers. I stamped "Congratulations" from the Hero Arts Florals Magnolia set and then stamped "on your engagement" from Hero Arts Congrats stamp and die set. I used the "Congrats" die from that same set to make a gold die cut for the back side of the card. I added a yellow gauze bow to the top of the front side of the card. Then I added some pale gold Nuvo dots to the panel with the tulip on the back of the card, added the "Love never fails" sentiment, and finished it off with a gold die cut butterfly.

Meow-ch! Get Well Card

A fellow sister in Christ from my church recently fell and broke her hip, and I thought it might lift her spirits to receive a funny get well card. She's been dealing with a lot of very serious health issues over the past few years, so I've sent several pretty floral cards with encouraging scriptures in them, but this time around I thought I would go for something humorous that might bring some much-needed levity. 

Awhile back I won the Art Impressions card challege and chose this darling cat-themed set as my prize. Thanks, AI! I used 2 of the cat stamps and 4 of the sentiments when I made this card (this set has so many options!), and I colored the kitties using my Ohuhu Honolulu alcohol markers. I fussy cut the kitties and used dies to cut out the sentiments. 

I chose an accordion style card base so I could use the panels to fit all the details I wanted to include. I used a paw print stamp to create a random pattern of paw prints on two of the panels that seemed kind of plain otherwise. I used Art Glitter glue and foam tape to adhere everything to the card base.
