Double Pop Up Sympathy Card

A friend of mine recently lost a beloved uncle, and I wanted to make a special sympathy card for her. I recently purchased Hero Art's Magnolia stamp set, and I combined it with Hero Art's Prayers stamp and cut set, a CTMH "with heartfelt sympathy" stamp, and SU! Butterfly Brilliance dies to create this card.

The idea for this card design comes from a video tutorial and FB post by Di's Den for Stamping and Crafting. If you'd like the measurements for the card, please view the video I'm linking here: #174 (23) Double Pop Up Card - YouTube. Thanks, Di! This is a really special card design. I chose a lovely floral design paper with silver accents and then used silver embossing powder to emboss the magnolia stamp on the inside of the card. I colored the stamped image with Ohuhu Honolulu markers and used foam tape to adhere it to the inside of the card on top of 2 die cuts I created using SU!'s Share a Milkshake bundle and purple card stock.

The butterly on the outside of the card was die cut once in silver card stock, while the ones on the inside of the card were each die cut twice so that I could layer them using two colors for each butterfly. The butterfly on the outside was adhered with Art Glitter glue, and I added some pearls to the body for a little embellishment. The butterflies on the inside of the card were adhered with foam tape.

For the back of the card, I did a layer of silver card stock with purple accents and then stamped John 11:25 onto white card stock and embossed it with a floral 3D embossing folder. I adhered the layers to the back of the card and then added a silver butterfly die cut and a smaller blue jeweled butterfly. John 11:25 is typically an Easter verse that reminds us that everyone who believes in Jesus will live even though they die, and that's such a comfort when we grieve our Christian friends and family members who have gone to be with the Lord in heaven.

I followed Di's instructions for the sizing of all the layers and for how to create the pop ups.

Here's a look at the front:
